In a decisive move against commercial activities tied to the Cuban regime, Miami-Dade County has revoked the licenses of 20 businesses unable to prove federal authorization to operate with Cuba.
According to Telemundo 51, this action was announced by the county's tax collector, Dariel Fernández, who highlighted that his office launched a comprehensive review after identifying potential violations of federal laws governing trade with Cuba.
As part of this scrutiny, 75 companies were asked to provide documentation proving they had permits from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and/or the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). Out of these, 48 businesses successfully demonstrated compliance, showing no illegal trade ties with Cuba.
Businesses that failed to respond were given a second warning on November 25, 2025, stating that a lack of response would be interpreted as a legal non-compliance presumption. After the deadline passed, authorities moved to revoke their Local Business Tax, effectively barring these entities from legally operating within Miami-Dade.
The affected companies include travel agencies, shipping services, logistics, and multi-service firms, some having multiple locations in the county. The revocation is effective immediately and includes additional penalties for those attempting to operate without a valid license.
Effective immediately, the following businesses are not authorized to operate in the county:
- Havana Sky Travel Inc. (2 locations)
- AMZ Immigration and Multi-Services Corp.
- Global Cargo Corp
- Globi Multiservices Inc., operating as Globi Envios
- Managua Travel Agency Inc., operating as Cuba Travel & Services
- BM Envios Cargo Corp
- R & R Logistics Customer Freight Solutions LLC
- Leafy Holidays Inc
- JM Services LLC
- Yumury Envios & Travel LLC (2 locations)
- Lucero Services Corp
- OMD Multiservices LLC, operating as Martinair Travel
- JC Montoya Services Inc
- Latin Logistics LLC, operating as Avianca Express
- Capote Express Inc
- Pocho Express LLC
- Xcellence Travel Inc
- Via Blanca Multiservice Inc.
- Tu Cuba Multiservices Corp
- Xael Charters Inc. (2 locations)
Fernández emphasized that the action is supported by state and local laws, which empower the county to deny or cancel licenses for any entity engaging in commercial relations with Cuba contrary to federal law.
"Miami-Dade will not serve as a platform to finance or sustain the Cuban regime," Fernández declared, noting that his personal experience as a Cuban immigrant strengthens his resolve to strictly enforce the law.
The tax collector further indicated that investigations are ongoing and additional businesses might face similar actions in the coming weeks. "This is just the beginning of a process that will be conducted with firmness and utmost respect for the rule of law," he concluded.
Back in September, Fernández issued a stern warning to companies attempting to do business with the Cuban regime, stating he would not allow them to profit at the expense of the Cuban people's suffering.
He reiterated that Florida law is explicit in mandating that any business linked with Havana risks losing its local licenses and being forced to cease operations in the county.
Speaking as an advocate for the exile community, Fernández, who describes himself as a "Cuban immigrant who knows firsthand the pain and suffering inflicted by this dictatorship," has pledged repeatedly to do everything possible to prevent any business benefiting from the Cuban people's distress from operating in Miami-Dade.
This stance aligns local South Florida policy with the demands of the exile community, who call for decisive actions against those who provide resources to the regime amid the island's economic and social crises.
