Cuban actor Raúl Enríquez Zerquera passed away on Saturday, as reported by Cubavisión in a condolence message, where he was hailed as an "indispensable" figure in Cuban television for over four decades.

According to the statement, Enríquez was a "true pillar" of television since 1980. His career spanned more than 30 years of continuous work, and he also excelled as a writer and theater director, offering a "comprehensive and rigorous" approach to the arts.

Television audiences fondly remember him for his roles in numerous soap operas and his impactful performances in the crime series Tras la Huella, where he delivered "solid and memorable" interpretations.

The statement also notes that his most recent work is part of the soap opera Ojo de Agua, set to premiere soon, where he portrayed a character with "dramatic weight." He also appeared in the soap opera Cuando el amor no alcanza.

Enríquez led the Aries Theater Company, which has been contributing to the arts in the 10 de Octubre municipality for 23 years, with his community work reflected in over 70 premiered productions.

As an author and/or director, he was involved in several works, including Fandango, El amo de los perros, Las tres Marías, Gangrena negra, La Familia Peste, and Dolor Ajeno, among others.

For his artistic career, Enríquez was awarded the ACTUAR Prize for Lifetime Achievement in 2019.
