U.S. President Donald Trump conceded on Friday that the Republican Party might face losses in the 2026 midterm elections.

“Even those with, you know, a successful presidency have encountered setbacks,” Trump remarked during an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

Despite this admission, the MAGA movement leader emphasized his achievements, stating he has "created the greatest economy in history. But it may take time for people to fully grasp these accomplishments."

“All that money flowing into our country is building things right now—auto plants, AI, a lot of things. I can't predict how that will translate for voters, all I can do is my job,” he stated.

Trump insisted that “prices are in a good shape.”

“We'll see what happens. We should win. But, you know, statistically, it's very difficult to win. Yeah, it doesn't make sense,” he concluded.

The U.S. Senate is currently held by Republicans with 53 seats compared to 45 Democrats and two independents, and the House of Representatives is similarly led with 220 Republicans to 213 Democrats.

Nonetheless, recent sweeping Democratic wins, such as in the New York City and Miami mayoral races, suggest a potential shift in legislative power.

On Saturday, it emerged that Trump is facing increasing erosion of support among Latino voters who backed him in previous elections.

According to new surveys, one in three Hispanic voters who supported him now admits regretting their decision, reflecting dissatisfaction with his economic management and unmet promises.

The polls, conducted by civic organizations Somos Votantes and Somos PAC, were revealed during a virtual press conference.

The findings highlight that a majority of Latino voters blame the Republican Party for their economic frustrations, amid rising living costs, stagnant wages, and the negative impact of tariffs imposed by the Trump Administration.

Republican Challenges and Latino Voter Sentiments

Why might Republicans face challenges in the 2026 midterms?

Republicans could encounter difficulties due to shifting voter sentiments, especially among Latinos, economic frustrations, and recent Democratic victories in key elections.

What concerns do Latino voters have regarding Trump's presidency?

Latino voters express concerns about rising living costs, stagnant wages, and the adverse effects of tariffs, which they attribute to the Republican Party's economic policies under Trump.
