Mother's Heartbreak: Cuban Woman Chooses Family Over Staying in the U.S.

Tuesday, December 9, 2025 by Robert Castillo

A Cuban woman, known on TikTok as @yenyyenyyelreal, touched the hearts of many followers after sharing a video explaining her decision to voluntarily leave the United States. After spending six years there without being able to reunite with her daughter, who remains in Cuba, she chose to return home.

"Good evening, my heart. Love, let me explain and give you some context, because maybe you don't follow me and haven't seen my previous videos. I've been in this country for six years, six years where I came with a purpose: to move forward and bring my daughter with me... but I didn't achieve it," the visibly emotional Cuban woman began her heartfelt message.

In her testimony, she emphasized her deep desire to be with her daughter, realizing after so much time abroad that "time is precious" and nothing can replace a mother's presence.

"I happily requested my voluntary departure, and I swear by all that is dear to me, by my children, I am happy. I'm leaving happy, not sad. If I had wanted to stay, I could have stayed three more years, but I don't want to. I prefer my time, being with my daughter, not losing another year," she expressed.

The Cuban mother, who insists she has no regrets about her choice, reflected on the sacrifices many parents make when they emigrate. She pointed out that despite providing material comforts, nothing can replace the warmth and closeness of family bonds.

"One thinks that the child lacks nothing because you buy them things, but in the end, they lack you. They don't want toys or food, they want you to be there with them," she said.

Yenny revealed that her daughter is just 10 years old and feels there is still "time to recapture her childhood," to accompany her to school, and to be present during the challenging years of her growth.

"I don't want to trade my daughter for this country, for a sense of well-being. In the end, you never know what tomorrow will bring," she concluded.

Her testimony has sparked mixed reactions on social media. Many commend her bravery and decision to prioritize family, while others express concern about her return to a country where opportunities are limited and the economic situation remains dire.

This isn't the first time the Cuban woman has spoken about her self-deportation and her reasons for returning to the island. Her story highlights the immense emotional cost of migration for countless Cuban families separated by borders and bureaucracy.
