Cuban actor Alberto Pujol has expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of José Luis 'El Chino' Jo, a legendary cameraman who significantly contributed to Cuban television.

"The saddest news is the departure of our cameraman, El Chino Ho. He was a great friend, a brother, and an artist with unparalleled work ethic! For many, El Chino Ho was everything. He brought joy to countless shoots, and personally, he was the one who filmed almost all of my work alongside Eddy Quintero. His absence leaves an immeasurable void," Pujol shared on Facebook.

Pujol continued, "El Chino Ho is a heritage, an icon, and an absolute testament to television history. We can never forget him! Brother! Artist! Rest in peace, but you will always be with us through your legacy and professionalism! Wherever you are, I send you a heartfelt embrace, my deepest condolences."

The news was echoed by other actors and media figures like Rafael Lahera and Lilo Villaplana, who also paid their respects.

"This is heart-wrenching news—the death of such an artist in image and television composition. I met him when I started doing TV in Cuba. He was always supportive and eager to share the tricks of the trade," commented announcer Omar Moynelo.

José Luis Jo was a renowned cameraman known for his work on popular 1990s Cuban police series such as Día y Noche and Su propia guerra, which starred Pujol. These dramas also featured performances by César Évora, Jorge Villazón, Coralia Veloz, Nancy González, and others.

In July, the director of Cuban Television, Abel Ponce, also passed away. He was celebrated on the island for his work on the two popular police series.

Ponce was awarded the National Television Award in 2006 for his lifelong contributions, along with 14 Caracol Awards from the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, and a mention at the Japan Television Festival for his educational program Our Children.
