President Donald Trump of the United States was awarded the first-ever FIFA Peace Award this past Friday. This accolade, introduced by the world governing body of soccer, aims to recognize "extraordinary actions" that contribute to fostering stability in regions plagued by conflict, such as Gaza, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Ukraine.
The award ceremony was part of the official events leading up to the draw for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
