Cuban Influencer in the U.S. Urges Miami Residents to Appreciate Their Lives

Wednesday, December 17, 2025 by Ernesto Alvarez

The Cuban content creator, Yenly L Padrón, known on social media as @yenly_l_padron, recently shared a video delivering a powerful message to Cubans living in the United States who often express dissatisfaction with life in exile.

While demonstrating a chicken soup and homemade buns recipe, Yenly takes the opportunity to reflect on gratitude and hard work.

The influencer criticizes those "living in Miami who constantly complain," reminding them that true hardships are faced on the island.

"Cubans here in the United States, those who complain about everything—whether it's the exhausting work, money running short, or life being tough—let me tell you something: life in Cuba is what's truly tough," she asserted.

With a firm and emotional tone, the young woman describes the daily struggles faced by Cuban families.

"It's tough to hear a child's stomach growl with hunger and have nothing to offer. It's tough to see a mother cry because her baby has a fever and there's no medicine. It's tough to go 20 hours without electricity, water, gas, or hope."

Yenly contrasts this reality with the opportunities available in the United States, emphasizing that freedom and hard work are privileges not to be taken for granted.

"You're in a country where opportunities abound, where if you work hard, you progress, where you can study, grow, own a home, a car, a business... and yet you complain," says the creator.

"You complain because you've forgotten what it's like to live without freedom, to fear speaking out, to look into your parents' eyes and see resignation."

The message also calls for gratitude and pride in being Cuban, even when far from one's homeland.

"Living in the United States is a privilege, not a punishment. This country owes you nothing. It opened its doors, and now it's up to you to earn the opportunities being offered."

In the video's closing, Yenly encourages her fellow Cubans to appreciate sacrifice and their roots.

"While you complain, there are those who would give anything to be where you are. So stop complaining and start being grateful, because when you forget sacrifice, you also forget your roots. And a Cuban without roots is a soul without a homeland."

The video has sparked hundreds of reactions from Cubans both inside and outside the island, many of whom expressed gratitude for the message and agreed that "sometimes we need to remember where we come from."
