Alexander Otaola has expressed skepticism following the arrival of influencer Iván Valdés Permuy, known as the "Cuban Smarty," in Miami. This response comes after a video surfaced showing him inside a liquor store in Hialeah.
"He was spotted at a liquor store in Hialeah," Otaola noted, sharing the footage in which a fellow Cuban captures the Cuban Smarty in the store. During this brief "interview," the influencer claims his trip to Miami is merely for "tourism."
However, Otaola cast doubt on this explanation, questioning how the influencer secured his visa. "Tourism? I suspect you're here to stay. You got your visa in Spain since you're a Cuban-Spaniard and were there, but I'm puzzled about how you got the visa because Cuban-European citizens must avoid Cuba for two years," he remarked on his show, Hola Otaola, on Tuesday, December 2.
Otaola expressed disbelief that the Cuban Smarty met the visa requirement, given his recent uploads of videos filmed in Cuba. "It's implausible that he's stayed away from Cuba for two years if he's been shooting street interviews there," Otaola stated, adding with laughter, "Maybe they sorted out the visa for him in Spain. Wow, what's happening at that embassy! I should call to warn them this might be going on."
Otaola's remarks have sparked discussions online, with followers debating whether the Cuban Smarty's visit is genuinely for tourism or if he intends to settle in the United States.
Alexander Otaola's Concerns about Cuban Visas
Why does Alexander Otaola doubt the Cuban Smarty's visa validity?
Otaola questions the validity of the Cuban Smarty's visa because he believes the influencer has not adhered to the two-year absence from Cuba required for Cuban-European citizens to obtain a visa.
What triggered the debate about the Cuban Smarty's intentions in Miami?
The debate was triggered by a video showing the Cuban Smarty in a Hialeah liquor store, where he claimed to be visiting Miami for tourism, which Otaola and others find suspicious.
