An accidental incident has been identified as the cause behind the multiple injuries that have left a 15-year-old from Yaguajay in critical condition at the José Martí Pérez Provincial Pediatric Hospital in Sancti Spíritus, as reported by the official outlet Escambray.

In a statement to La Voz de Yaguajay, Lieutenant Colonel Raúl Banguela Moya, head of the Revolutionary National Police (PNR) in Yaguajay, revealed that the investigation concluded the teenager climbed a wall to pick guavas, lost his balance, and fell onto a fiber cement tank. During the fall, several bricks came loose from the wall, exacerbating his injuries.

The officer noted that no other individuals were present during the accident, based on the account of a neighbor who assisted the teen and called for help. Forensic experts found no evidence of violence or blood that would suggest a criminal act, ruling out any possibility of a sexual assault, contrary to rumors circulating on social media.

The adolescent remains in the Intensive Care Unit of the Sancti Spíritus hospital, listed in critical condition but showing "favorable signs in his recovery," according to Dr. Ramón Aquino Lorenzo, director of the José Martí Pérez Pediatric Hospital.

Dr. Aquino stated that the youth was initially taken to the Joaquín Paneca Municipal Hospital in Yaguajay, where he underwent surgery performed by a multidisciplinary team. "The swift and professional action of that team was crucial in treating the polytraumatized patient," the doctor emphasized.

Prior to the clarification of the accident's cause, the Sancti Spíritus hospital had posted on its Facebook page that the teen sustained internal injuries to organs such as the spleen, pancreas, and duodenum, but showed no signs of sexual abuse and was alive, refuting rumors spread across social media. This information was included in a medical update regarding the patient's post-surgery condition.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the teenager remained under intensive medical observation, with a stable condition given the severity, as confirmed by Sancti Spíritus health authorities.
