The Texas police department is offering a reward of $8,500 for any information leading to the capture of William Herrera Zamora, a Cuban national convicted of child sexual abuse. He is listed among the top ten most wanted illegal immigrants in the southern U.S. state.

On Tuesday, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) took to social media to issue a search notice for the Cuban immigrant, labeling him as December's "featured fugitive child predator."

Herrera Zamora faces charges for indecent acts with a minor involving sexual contact and for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

Authorities warn that he is considered armed and dangerous, advising the public not to attempt to apprehend him.

A detailed statement from the DPS website reveals that the 63-year-old Cuban fugitive has been wanted in Tarrant County since June 2022. The Grapevine Police Department issued an arrest warrant for him for indecency with a minor involving sexual contact.

Weeks later, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles issued a detention order for violating his parole.

On January 3, 2023, the Fort Worth Police Department issued arrest warrants against the Cuban for two counts of failing to meet sex offender registration requirements.

However, Herrera Zamora's criminal history dates back further. In January 2019, he was convicted on 10 counts of possessing child pornography with the intent to distribute. He was subsequently sentenced to five years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) facility.

According to the state police report, the Cuban national was granted parole from TDCJ in January 2021. He was then placed in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and later allowed to reside in Fort Worth.

Herrera Zamora is described as 5’9’’ tall, weighing around 160 pounds (approximately 72 kilograms). He has a tattoo on his upper left arm, a scar on his abdomen, and is known to wear glasses, according to the DPS.

The reward for information leading to his arrest increases to $8,500 during December if the tip is received within the month, the statement indicated.

Authorities urge anyone with information about Herrera Zamora's whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477). Information can also be submitted through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive in question and clicking the link under his photo, or via the agency's Facebook page by clicking "SEND A TIP" in the "About" section.

So far in 2025, the Texas DPS and other agencies have apprehended 63 fugitives, including sex offenders and illegal immigrants wanted in the state. Of those arrested, 26 had prior sexual offense convictions, and 13 were undocumented. Rewards amounting to $41,000 have been paid for tips leading to these arrests.

In recent weeks, ICE has arrested Cuban nationals with convictions for sexual offenses in various states, including crimes against minors.

During ICE's "Operation Dirtbag" in Florida, over 200 immigrants with criminal records for sexual offenses were detained, including an unspecified number of Cuban citizens. Authorities highlighted the profiles of five island migrants among those arrested and announced their imminent deportation.
