After 11 Years, Cuban Woman and Her Family Leave the U.S. for Spain in Search of Peace: "I Didn't Come to Get Rich"

Tuesday, December 2, 2025 by Oscar Fernandez

A Cuban woman named Thali, who spent over a decade living in the United States, has taken to TikTok to share her decision to relocate to Spain with her family. Her candid and reflective story has struck a chord with fellow Cuban migrants facing similar life changes.

"I lived in the United States for eleven years, and now I've moved to Spain. Everyone talks about how hard it is to emigrate, but no one tells you that life is a process. Starting over in any country is equally challenging," Thali shared in a video on her TikTok account, @thalilifestyle.

Thali arrived in the U.S. alone at the tender age of 18. Despite the numerous hurdles she encountered, she managed to thrive. Now, having recently settled in Spain, she remains undeterred by difficulties, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and faith.

"I've been in Spain for about three weeks, and thankfully, I've already secured a job. In just three days, I've gained four new clients. It all takes sacrifice, effort, and sleepless nights, but if you stay consistent and recognize that life is a process, the rewards will come," she asserted.

In the video description, Thali delved deeper into the essence of emigrating and the significance of prioritizing inner peace over external opinions:

"Moving to a new country... Everyone talks about the challenges, but few have the courage to stand in your shoes. No one lives your life. No one feels what you feel. No one truly understands why you make the decisions you do.

If you're an immigrant or considering emigration because of a situation only you comprehend... my dear, don't heed outside voices. People will never grasp another's perspective because they aren't living their life.

So look out for yourself. For your peace. For what truly benefits you. And forget what the world says.

Emigrating to Spain hasn't been easy. No beginning is. When I arrived in the U.S., I faced immense struggles... but then I moved forward, acquired my possessions, my business, my properties. Everything flowed with God's help.

And the same will happen here. I didn't move to Spain to become a millionaire. I moved to Spain for peace and tranquility.

If you're going through the same, this video is for you. Follow your intuition, pursue your path, and remember: life is yours, not anyone else's."

Her narrative has resonated with hundreds of Cubans on social media who have also left behind the so-called "American dream" in pursuit of a more balanced and peaceful life in Europe.

In a time when emigration remains a necessity for thousands of Cubans, Thali's message serves as a reminder that true wealth doesn't always lie in money, but in the peace one finds by taking charge of their own destiny.
