The Cuban regime, unable to provide basic medications in pharmacies and hospitals, is attempting to mitigate the healthcare crisis with so-called "wonder products."
At the 41st Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025), held at the Expocuba fairgrounds, the state-run Labiofam S.A. unveiled a tea claiming to help manage diabetes and blood pressure.
According to the official newspaper Tribuna de La Habana, Labiofam, which is part of the OSDE Labiofam conglomerate, showcased a wide range of new products at the fair, including the Alofin Tea, popularly referred to as "Té de Palo de Caja."
This infusion is already sold in China, and the company aims to introduce it to the national market as a natural solution for patients with chronic illnesses, as reported by the publication.
Labiofam's General Director, Julio Reinaldo Iglesias, also highlighted the release of other items, such as nutritional supplements made from Vimang and spirulina, along with the well-known Vidatox, which is made from scorpion toxin and promoted by the regime as an alternative treatment to alleviate pain and tumor inflammation.
The company also introduced its food line based on corn, aimed at producing cornstarch, derivatives, and probiotic yogurts under the Paraíso brand, with the goal of increasing national supply.
Additionally, they showcased bioproducts like BIORAT, BACTIVEC, and THURISA, designed for pest control and environmental protection.
Despite the country's severe production crisis, the state enterprise claimed to maintain international agreements, including with Vietnamese entities, to finance new production lines and enhance its industrial capacity.
Recently, the official press has once again spotlighted noni as a key player in Cuba's "natural health" scene, at a time when hospitals and pharmacies lack essential medications for the population.
The Periódico 26 de Las Tunas, a provincial organ of the Communist Party, published a piece on the fruit known as Morinda citrifolia, praising its supposed immune-boosting benefits and its use in family gardens and urban orchards.
The article recalls how in the 1990s, noni was hailed as a "miracle fruit" for its alleged properties against hypertension, diabetes, migraines, and even some early-stage cancers, based on Asian research.
