The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) announced on November 27, 2025, the passing of former ambassador Abelardo Fabio Hernández Ferrer at the age of 69.
In an official statement, MINREX conveyed its condolences over the death of the diplomat, who had an extensive career in Cuba's foreign service.
Hernández Ferrer earned his degree in Russian Language and Literature from the Pedagogical Institute of Minsk in 1976, back when it was part of the Soviet Union.
