A Cuban man has been taken into custody by Doral police in Miami-Dade County, accused of committing more than 25 thefts over the course of a year in various South Florida retail locations, according to authorities.
The individual, identified as Lázaro Maury Cabrera Calero, 36, was arrested last Wednesday following his identification as the perpetrator of at least 26 thefts at Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, and Ross stores between August 2024 and November 2025.
Cabrera Calero is alleged to have stolen footwear worth $17,412.23 from several retail outlets, as reported by Telemundo 51. His activities were documented by store surveillance cameras.
The Cuban national is facing 11 counts of third-degree grand theft and 15 counts of retail theft, with a prior conviction for similar offenses.
Pattern of Theft
The police report details that on August 22, 2024, the suspect visited a Marshalls store in Miami where he filled a suitcase with various shoes from the shelves before leaving without paying, totaling $909.83 in merchandise.
He reportedly used the same method in subsequent thefts, occasionally hiding the stolen items in a shopping basket, as indicated in the arrest report.
Recent Incidents
On the first of this month, he was caught by the loss prevention team at a Marshalls store as he attempted to exit with stolen goods. When approached by employees, he abandoned the suitcase and fled the scene.
On November 19, he was apprehended by Doral City Police for two similar thefts at a Ross store, authorities confirmed.

Cabrera Calero's criminal activities extend beyond this past year. In 2022, he was arrested for stealing meat from a West Miami business on at least three occasions, utilizing the same tactics to pilfer merchandise.
