As the busiest air travel days of the year approach, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued a nationwide alert aimed at travelers, emphasizing its role in investigating crimes that occur on flights, in airports, or related to air travel.

In an official statement, the FBI clarified that its jurisdiction encompasses cases of assault, sexual harassment, theft, bomb threats, and interference with flight crews or security personnel, both within the United States and on international flights.

The FBI's advisory also serves as a reminder for immigrants—including Cubans—who are in unresolved or pending immigration statuses. Any crimes or disturbances on flights, even minor ones, fall under federal jurisdiction and can lead to legal or immigration consequences.

"If you notice any suspicious activity in an airport or during a flight, or if you are a victim or witness of such crimes, report it to the crew, airport police, and the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or through tips.fbi.gov," the agency stated.

This announcement comes during the holiday travel season, when millions of people—including numerous migrants reuniting with their families, among them Cubans—navigate airports nationwide.

The authorities reminded travelers that any incident or irregularity aboard a flight might prompt a federal investigation, underscoring the importance of adhering to flight rules and cooperating with the crew.

The agency stressed its commitment to ensuring the safety of all passengers and urged individuals to remain calm and report any suspicious or potentially hazardous behavior during air travel.

U.S. federal authorities have bolstered security systems at borders and entry points, including airports, utilizing increasingly sophisticated technological tools.

Recent research has disclosed that the Border Patrol employs advanced surveillance technology to monitor migrants and travelers in strategic areas, incorporating facial recognition, motion sensors, and real-time data collection.

These measures are complemented by the announcement that the U.S. government will implement an artificial intelligence-based system designed to anticipate irregular movements and identify potential risks within migration routes, airports, and crossing points.

The system will evaluate behavioral patterns, travel history, and other indicators to assist agents in real time.
