A trans Cuban woman is currently hospitalized with a critical prognosis at Río Carrión Hospital in Palencia, a city in the region of Castilla y León, after she was viciously attacked early in the morning of Wednesday, November 19, during a prearranged sexual encounter.

According to reports from El Norte de Castilla, the woman suffered around 40 stab wounds and cuts inflicted by a small kitchen knife wielded by a foreign man, approximately 35 years old.

Neighbors alerted the National Police after hearing desperate screams and a heated argument inside a residence on the centrally located Calle Mayor. Police officers had to break down the door using a battering ram to access the premises, where they discovered the victim severely injured and the assailant still armed.

In a more detailed account, Diario Palentino reported that the woman also showed signs consistent with an attempted strangulation, involving a cord that broke, before being subjected to numerous knife wounds.

After receiving initial medical assistance at the apartment, she was transferred to the hospital, where she remains in stable condition despite the severity of her injuries. Sources cited by the same outlet revealed that the attacker, a resident of Valladolid and worker in the town of Dueñas, traveled to Palencia after arranging a sexual service with the victim.

The violence of the attack was so intense that three officers were injured while subduing the suspect, as noted by ABC, which also confirmed that upon entering the apartment, police found a broken bottle and both individuals covered in blood.

Authorities currently rule out the possibility of it being a case of gender-based violence or a hate crime.

The Government's sub-delegate, Eduardo Santiago, as quoted by El Norte de Castilla and Cadena SER, along with the National Police, emphasized that there was no prior romantic relationship and that the meeting was consensual, distancing it from such classifications. Nonetheless, the investigation remains ongoing.

The attacker was brought before the court and, according to another report from Diario Palentino, was placed in provisional custody after exercising his right to remain silent. His lawyer requested DNA tests to determine if any form of aggression occurred against him, although no evidence currently supports this claim.
