The Cuban singer known as La Diosa was overcome with emotion after participating as a witness in the trial of reggaeton star Yosvanis Sierra Hernández, also known as Chocolate MC. He was found guilty by a jury of seven—comprising four men and three women—of the charge involving "writing or publishing direct threats" against Damián Valdez Galloso.
In a video shared after leaving the courthouse, La Diosa voiced her deep frustration over not being able to fully present her testimony before the judge.
"I feel an enormous frustration. Today, I was called to witness in Yosvani's, or Chocolate's, trial. I've known Yosvani for over 15 years, and I would do it a thousand times more if needed, but I'm frustrated because I barely had the chance to speak," she said, visibly shaken.
The artist argued that the musician, whose life has been marred by drug use since the age of 16, is in need of medical intervention rather than a severe sentence.
"Yosvani is not a murderer. He has lived under the influence of drugs, facing numerous crises. He's a sick man who should first receive help. We cannot expect a sick person to behave normally," she emphasized.
She expressed regret that the jury failed to understand the reggaeton artist's personality, known for his controversies and impulsive actions on social media.
"Yosvani has always been a loudmouth, a social media clown, but never a killer. Every time he made noise, it was to draw attention, not to harm," she added.
Through tears, La Diosa pleaded for mercy for her colleague and even invoked her religious beliefs.
"I ask Changó, Oshún, and my ancestors to help you, brother. May you get through this and learn from your mistakes. I hope the judge is fair. I know you'll face some punishment, but a life sentence... that's just too much," she said, sobbing.
The case has stirred a significant reaction among the Cuban music community and fans of the artist, who now faces a potential life sentence following the guilty verdict.
