Cuban Author Calls Out Influencers Who Didn't Support Her Book, Despite Receiving Free Copies

Cuban writer Dania Ferro, who resides in the United States, stirred up a flurry of reactions on TikTok after releasing a heartfelt video. She candidly named several Cuban influencers who failed to support her, even though she had gifted them her novel, Me cansé de compartir a mi pareja.

In her message, Ferro expressed her disappointment in the lack of reciprocation from some well-known figures. "Aly Sánchez, I gave you my book and you never supported me, not even a single story on your social media. Quite surprising, considering you're known for backing your community," the author remarked. She also mentioned La Diosa, Imaray Ulloa, and Yoyi, pointing out that although they had all received her book, none made a post about it.

"I don't usually give away my novels; I prefer when people spend money and buy them," Ferro admitted on her TikTok account @daniaferro_author.

The video, which has garnered thousands of views and over a thousand comments, sparked a vigorous discussion among her followers. Some applauded her for her straightforwardness and bravery, while others criticized her for expecting something in return. In the comments, a user inquired about Claudia Valdés, to which Ferro replied, "She never helped me, not even an invitation to her podcast."

The author clarified that her intention was not to create controversy but to speak the truth about something she had been holding onto for a while. "When TikTok sends you a free sample, the least you do is post a video. It works the same way on social media. I'm not criticizing, just stating the truth," she explained in response to a follower.

Ferro also expressed gratitude to those who supported her from the start, such as La Próspera de Cape Coral, actress Dianelys Brito—who she credited for boosting her Instagram followers by three thousand—and Yanet from Atlanta, who shared her novel on their social platforms and offered collaboration and affection.

Amidst messages of support and criticism, Dania Ferro remained steadfast. "I do love Cubans, but I have a heart and things hurt me. I'm not made of stone," she wrote in one of her most shared comments.
