The community of Cárdenas is reeling from the tragic death of a 29-year-old man, Lázaro, affectionately known as "El Máscara," who reportedly took his own life.

In the city of Matanzas, Lázaro was recognized as a vibrant and lively young man. Christian Arbolaez, a content creator, reflected on Facebook about the loss, describing him as someone who was always present and full of life.

"Cárdenas woke up to an unusual silence today, a kind of quiet that is heavy and painful, one that seems to freeze time. The news spread quickly among the community: Lázaro, or El Máscara as many knew him, is no longer with us," Arbolaez's post read.

Arbolaez also included heartfelt messages from those who were close to Lázaro.

"A friend of his penned tearfully, 'You didn't take your life; life was stolen from you... it took more than just a friend from me, it took a brother,'" Arbolaez shared.

"Every birthday will never be the same for me," added the friend, who shared not only a close bond with Lázaro but also a birthday on March 20th, a date that will now carry a different significance.

Arbolaez continued, "Lázaro was one of those young people who leave a mark without trying, who spread joy and make you feel they'll always be around. Today, his friends, family, and the entire community unite in a shared hope: that his soul rests in peace and, from wherever he is, continues to watch over his loved ones with the same energy he lived every day."

"Our deepest condolences go out to his mother and closest family members, with hearts full of sorrow. May the memory of Lázaro — El Máscara of so many cherished moments — remain alive among all who loved him," Arbolaez concluded.

In the comments on the post, many took the opportunity to say their goodbyes: "Speechless. Rest in peace, Máscara. We will never forget you, always remembering your jokes and stutter. May God hold you in a beautiful place."

Lázaro's cousin, Sandra González, also expressed her grief: "Rest in peace, cousin. There are no words to describe such immense pain. My condolences to your mom, who will feel your absence deeply. May God welcome you in the most beautiful place beside your grandmother. Rest in peace."

In a related note, Radio Angulo in Holguín reported the passing of Elioneris Leyva Reyes, a young director of Radio Juvenil Cuba and a fifth-year Social Communication student. His death has sent shockwaves through both the radio and university communities in that province.
