The renowned Cuban broadcaster Lilia Rosa López passed away at the age of 92 this Saturday.
López, recipient of the National Radio Award in 2007, was also recognized as a distinguished artist by the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT) and was a prominent member of UNEAC, as noted in the obituary on the Cuban Radio portal.
Born in Santa Clara in 1933, López ventured into broadcasting after the Cuban Revolution, initially in radio and later on television.
For a decade, she collaborated with maestro Ángel Hernández on the daily historical program "Este Día."
Her career also included work with Radio Habana Cuba, Radio Progreso, Cubavisión, and the Educational Channel.
López lent her voice to some of the documentaries by Santiago Álvarez, which highlighted figures such as Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh in 1969 and American activist Angela Davis in 1972, according to a report by OnCuba.
