Cuban actress Belissa Cruz revealed to her Instagram followers that she sustained a fractured toe while assisting with relief efforts in the eastern part of the country, which was hit by Hurricane Melissa.
Despite her injury, Cruz emphasized that she remains committed to distributing the collected humanitarian aid and dispelled rumors suggesting she was hospitalized.
"I'm here to thank every person who has privately messaged me. There have been many. I've been trying to reply to everyone gradually," Cruz stated in her stories. "I'm happy, grateful, and blessed to witness so many expressions of love and gratitude. This is the least we can do," she added.
The actress clarified that her goal is not to seek recognition for her contributions in the hardest-hit areas but to stand by those in need. "This isn't about awarding medals to anyone... It's truly tough being here. Sacrificing your time, your health, everything. But it's necessary for all the people going through this," she expressed.
Additionally, Belissa addressed false reports circulating on social media regarding her health: "There are fake posts claiming I was taken to the hospital due to dizziness and vomiting from stress, and that's completely false. I've never been to a hospital nor have I experienced dizziness. We've been here, on the front lines, the entire time."
She confirmed that her only injury is a fractured toe, which hasn't stopped her from continuing her humanitarian efforts. "The only thing that happened is a fractured toe, but I'm here, with the boot. We were working yesterday, and I won't address the injury until I return to Havana because I know what's involved."
In another part of the video, she warned about fake Facebook accounts using her name to solicit donations.
