A Cuban Woman's Regretful Experience with Smile Design: "I Completely Regret It"

Thursday, November 6, 2025 by Felix Ortiz

A young Cuban woman, known on TikTok as @karla28127, recently went viral after sharing a video detailing her unfortunate experience with a resin smile design. According to her account, this cosmetic procedure not only damaged her natural teeth but also left her with deep regret.

"I learned the hard way, so I'm sharing my story to prevent others from going through the same," she wrote in the description of her post, which features a video showing the deterioration of her dental work.

In the footage, Karla explains that just over a year ago, she decided to undergo a resin smile design after being inspired by results she saw on social media. "At first, I was overjoyed because, imagine, bright and white teeth. But over time, that changed drastically," she admitted.

Displaying her teeth to the camera, she pointed out that several of them had lost their color, cracked, and even one had completely fallen out. "This one's partially broken, this one has a piece missing, and I just lost this one yesterday," she noted.

Due to the severe damage, Karla shared that she was traveling to Miami to consult with a specialist to replace the resin with porcelain veneers, a more costly but also more durable and aesthetic option.

"People on social media often showcase the beauty of these procedures but never reveal the reality. You end up spending a lot trying to fix what's already broken. From my experience, I don't recommend resin teeth at all," she warned.

She concluded by expressing her regret over making the decision out of "whim" rather than any real medical or aesthetic necessity. "I truly didn't need any of this, but because they looked nice, I went for it. Now, I'm deeply regretful. I'm not someone who usually regrets things, but this is an exception," she lamented.

Understanding Resin Smile Design Risks

What is resin smile design?

Resin smile design is a cosmetic dental procedure that involves applying resin material to the teeth to improve their appearance. It's often chosen for its lower cost and immediate results.

Why can resin smile design be problematic?

Resin smile design can be problematic because the material may discolor, crack, or detach over time, leading to potential damage to natural teeth and additional costs for repairs or replacements.

What are the alternatives to resin smile design?

Alternatives to resin smile design include porcelain veneers, which are more durable and aesthetically pleasing but also more expensive. Consulting with a dental specialist can help determine the best option for individual needs.
