A Cuban jeweler based in Miami, recognized on social media as @jr_305cartel, has reported falling victim to a scam after accepting a counterfeit Rolex as payment.
The jeweler, who owns a brand that advocates for the use of moissanite, an affordable synthetic alternative to diamonds, shared his experience in a video that quickly gained traction.
He recounted that a customer visited his store interested in purchasing a large chain and, instead of paying with cash, offered what was claimed to be a luxury Rolex watch as part of the transaction.
Trusting the watch's genuineness, the jeweler agreed to the deal. However, the following day, upon visiting Ariel’s Jewelry, owned by the popular influencer known as "the elegant gentleman," he discovered the watch was a fake.
“Luckily, Ariel wasn’t there, otherwise I would have been embarrassed appearing in one of his videos,” the jeweler joked, clearly frustrated.
He added that the phone number given by the supposed customer was non-existent and regretted falling for the deceit “because I wanted to make some extra cash, for being a nice person, and for being overly trusting.”
