Laura María Gil González, daughter of former Minister of Economy and Planning Alejandro Gil Fernández, has called upon the Prosecutor's Office to provide more detailed information regarding the espionage charges against her father.

In a post on Facebook, Laura María demanded "complete transparency" in the case, advocating for a public trial to be broadcast live on national television, Cubavisión Internacional, and accessible to international media outlets.

Her lengthy message criticizes the official statement for leaving "loose ends" that encourage speculation among the public.

Laura María outlines several questions that she believes the Prosecutor's Office must address if espionage is indeed the "cornerstone" of the case: What exactly did the accused do? Which country or countries might he have served? Since when? Through what communication channels? What did he receive in return? Where and in what situations did these alleged meetings occur? Under whose orders? What information was disclosed?

She also demands clarification on what measures might have been proposed at the behest of "another State," what evidence supports these claims, and what his code name might have been.

Laura María insists that the implicated governments should issue an official statement, arguing that the accusation is "very serious," with ramifications beyond domestic borders, elevating it to an international case.

She maintains that her father "remains steadfast in his defense" and will "not acknowledge any crime that is not adequately verified."

Referencing Articles 54 and 48 of the Constitution, which guarantee freedom of expression and the right to defend one's honor, she underscores her demand for transparency in the trial proceedings, declaring that "the Cuban people deserve to know" the evidence presented.

Laura María explains her previous silence was due to her family's "commitment" to protect the country's image and avoid public unrest or an international conflict. She sought to respect due process and assist the investigation. However, she now emphasizes that if the State has implemented a Law of Transparency and Access to Public Information, it should be applied to the fullest extent in this case.

She advocates for an open trial, inviting participation from anyone interested, including both official and unofficial media, as well as foreign networks. She insists that this demand is not hers alone; Alejandro Gil has also made this request "from day one."

Laura María vows to closely monitor the outcomes of the trial and its political and social impacts, both within Cuba and internationally.

She emphasizes that her message is neither offensive nor destructive, does not incite violence, nor divulges state secrets, nor disrespects institutions such as the Ministry of the Interior, the Comptroller General's Office, the Prosecutor's Office, or the Presidency.

She warns that any retaliation against her or her family would be "entirely illegal" and a violation of their constitutionally recognized human rights to freedom of expression and self-defense.

Furthermore, she reaffirms her role as a "faithful witness" to the proceedings and her father's determination to maintain his defense without admitting to unproven crimes.

Her statement comes after the General Prosecutor's Office announced public criminal action against Alejandro Miguel Gil Fernández—who previously served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning—and other defendants, following the conclusion of a criminal investigation by the Ministry of the Interior.

The charges against the former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning were submitted to the appropriate court, with requests for imprisonment "corresponding to the acts committed."

The Prosecutor's Office specified that the request for criminal responsibility encompasses a broad array of offenses: espionage, activities detrimental to economic operations or contracting, embezzlement, bribery, forgery of public documents, tax evasion, influence peddling, money laundering, violation of classified document protection standards, and theft or damage of documents or other items under official custody.

The brief official communication did not provide further details about the judicial process beyond the presentation of charges and the request for prison sentences for all defendants.
