The well-known Cuban musician, Cándido Fabré, has taken to social media to highlight what he describes as the unjust detention of his band member, Ramiro Arzuaga, affectionately known within the group as “El Moro” or “El Indio.”

Fabré has revealed that his colleague Arzuaga has been held for over seven months without formal charges at the San José prison in Mayabeque province.

Through a heartfelt post on Facebook, the Cuban singer and orchestra leader conveyed his distress and demanded justice for his friend.

“I pray to God for the health of all those who are ill and for the freedom of my companion Ramiro Arzuaga, detained without any crime. His record is clean in all respects,” Fabré stated.

Known for his improvisational style and significant impact on Cuban popular music, Fabré also pointed out that Arzuaga's son feels "orphaned," awaiting his father's return, as do his bandmates.

“I demand a review and his release. Why such a delay? Whose interest does this injustice serve?” wrote the visibly upset musician.

The situation has sparked concern among fans and fellow musicians, who see it as another instance of repression and lack of accountability within the Cuban judicial system.
