The General Customs of the Republic uncovered cocaine hidden inside a cream tube within a postal package, as part of their ongoing anti-drug initiative known as the "Safe Border" exercise.

This operation was the result of a collaborative effort between the Postal Customs and the Anti-Drug Department of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint), as reported by William Pérez González, the institution's first deputy chief, on his X account.

According to Pérez González, the partnership between these agencies is a "strength" in the battle against drug trafficking, and he praised the "commendable work" of the officials involved in the detection.

Efforts to Combat Drug Trafficking in Cuba

The announcement aligns with the regime's attempts to demonstrate progress in combating narcotics under the official slogan "Victory Against Drugs." Earlier in October, a court in Ciego de Ávila sentenced a young couple for cultivating and concealing marijuana in what authorities labeled an "exemplary" public trial, held during the IV National Exercise Against Crime.

Shortly before this, the First Criminal Chamber of the Provincial Court of Las Tunas sentenced a resident of Amancio municipality to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of marijuana trafficking.

As part of this initiative, the Provincial People's Court of Holguín conducted an exemplary trial against three Cubans accused of drug trafficking.

In Havana, on September 22, the Provincial Court sentenced a man to 15 years in prison for selling cocaine and synthetic drugs.

In Matanzas, another young man awaits sentencing after admitting to buying and selling narcotics, despite having no prior criminal record. The prosecution is seeking a seven-year prison term.

Zero Tolerance Campaign Against Drug Trafficking

All these legal proceedings are part of a nationwide zero-tolerance campaign against drug trafficking. This judicial offensive aims to show a firm stance against the consumption and trafficking of drugs, particularly synthetic cannabinoids, commonly known as "chemical" or "paperillo."
