A multi-vehicle crash occurred this Wednesday in the Caballo Blanco area of the San Miguel del Padrón municipality in Havana, resulting in at least three injuries, according to a report from a member of the "ACCIDENTES BUSES & CAMIONES por más experiencia y menos víctimas!" group. The incident led to a traffic halt in the vicinity, based on initial reports from the scene.

The accident involved a tricycle, an electric motorcycle, a modern car, and a Lada. At least three injured individuals were rushed to the nearest hospital, all of whom were unconscious at the time of transport. Available information indicates that the collision involved four different types of vehicles simultaneously.

The accident caused significant congestion around Caballo Blanco as emergency and removal operations were underway. Several forum participants suggested that driver negligence might have been a factor, noting that the curve where the incident occurred is not meant for speeds over 40 km/h. One observer commented, "That curve clearly indicates 40 kilometers, and I invite you to stand there and see how many drivers are mindful and how many are not. I'm not trying to blame anyone, but for some time now, motorcycles haven't been staying in the right lane; you honk, flash your lights, and there they stay," acknowledging that cars also commit violations. Another added, "That curve has always been dangerous, and most drivers speed up significantly after passing the traffic light."

From January to August 2025, Cuba recorded 502 deaths due to traffic accidents, almost 80% of the fatalities from the previous year, signaling a rise in road-related mortalities. The National Road Safety Commission recently revealed that in the first eight months of the year, 5,025 accidents were reported—41 more than the same period in 2024—resulting in injuries to 4,516 people.

Last year, traffic accidents (7,507) resulted in 634 deaths and 6,613 injuries, figures lower than those in 2023. According to the latest official statistics released by state media, seven out of ten incidents involved victims, primarily from vehicle collisions, which remain the “most dangerous” type of accident, accounting for 36% of total fatalities.

Meanwhile, every accident caused by speeding records at least one casualty, and in every five such incidents, one person dies.
