Florida Leaders Push for Trump to Receive the Nobel Peace Prize After Nominating Machado

Political figures in Florida who have advocated for Venezuelan María Corina Machado's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize have also expressed their hope that U.S. President Donald Trump will be the next recipient of this prestigious international award. According to EFE, Republican Congressman Carlos Giménez remarked during an event honoring Machado at the Cuban Diaspora Museum in Miami that recent developments in Israel suggest "our president might win the Nobel next year."

Giménez cited the release of 20 Israeli hostages as part of the initial phase of the U.S.-backed peace plan. "Machado dedicated the award to the president because she understands," commented the Cuban-American legislator, emphasizing Trump's role in the negotiations.

The representatives supporting Machado's nomination described her in their letter as "an outstanding Venezuelan political leader whose unwavering commitment to democracy and human rights has inspired millions worldwide." The event also featured representatives María Elvira Salazar and Mario Díaz-Balart, alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio, one of the 12 nominators of the Venezuelan opposition figure.

Giménez highlighted that choosing Machado for the Nobel sends "a powerful message to Maduro," whom he labeled as an "illegitimate narco-terrorist." "The U.S. president is demonstrating through his actions that this will no longer be tolerated," declared the congressman, celebrating Trump's leadership in the hostage release.

On his social media, Giménez wrote, "Our community stands with the Nobel Peace Prize winner, María Corina Machado, a courageous fighter against the narcoterrorist dictator Nicolás Maduro, who dedicated her victory to the people of Venezuela and President Trump." He added, "Next year, President Trump should win the Nobel for his efforts to resolve numerous global conflicts." The Republican legislator also thanked Trump for "securing the release of all Israeli hostages alive and advancing peace in the Middle East."

During the partially broadcasted ceremony from Venezuela, Machado expressed gratitude to the people of Cuba and Nicaragua, asserting, "Our struggle is the same; by liberating Venezuela, we will also free your nations." The event was attended by academic and religious leaders from South Florida, including Madeline Pumariega, president of Miami Dade College, who compared Machado's fight to those of historical figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King.

Trump declared the end of the war in Gaza last Monday in a speech to the Israeli Knesset, announcing the start of a new era of peace, cooperation, and reconstruction in the Middle East. This achievement could significantly bolster his candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize.
