A tragic traffic accident claimed the life of a 25-year-old Cuban man and left eight others injured on Tuesday in Uruguay's Canelones department. The collision occurred around 8:20 a.m. on Route 7, near the 82-kilometer mark, when a car heading south collided with a van traveling in the opposite direction attempting a left turn, according to reports from local media citing the Highway Police.

The car's driver, the sole occupant and also 25, escaped with minor injuries, and an alcohol test confirmed he was not under the influence. The van was carrying ten passengers, nine of whom were Cuban nationals aged between 20 and 35 years. The 58-year-old Uruguayan driver was unharmed and also tested negative for alcohol.
