Brother of José Daniel Ferrer Urges Miami's Cuban Community to Welcome the Opposition Leader After Forced Exile from Cuba

Monday, October 13, 2025 by Amelia Soto

Luis Enrique Ferrer García, sibling of opposition leader José Daniel Ferrer García, who departed Cuba on Monday for the United States due to enforced exile by the Havana regime, has called on Cubans in Miami to extend a warm welcome. Shortly after Ferrer boarded the flight taking him to Miami with his family, his brother invited the Cuban community to greet him at Terminal D of Miami International Airport (MIA), where he is expected to arrive around 1 PM.

Speaking to Martí Noticias from MIA, the brother of the founder and leader of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) discussed the circumstances surrounding the opposition figure's departure. He highlighted the regime's clear attempts to obscure the timing of Ferrer's arrival in the U.S. to prevent any advance notice.

"They practically get him on the plane and take him to the airport just 15 or 20 minutes before the flight takes off. They've consistently been deceiving us since last week, claiming he was coming or not, in an effort to prevent us from announcing it in time and gathering a large crowd of patriots waiting for him at the airport," he stated.

"Right now, they are already on the plane, meaning they are on their way here, José Daniel and his entire family, accompanied by two courageous State Department officials. They were sent by the Department of State, led by our Marco Rubio and Mike Hammer, who heads the U.S. embassy in Cuba and has done remarkable work for the Cuban people," Luis Enrique noted.

He added that the U.S. officials traveled to Santiago de Cuba, declaring they would not return to the United States until they were on the same flight with José Daniel and his family. Ferrer flew out of Santiago de Cuba to Miami on Monday, following extensive negotiations that led to his forced exile.

This is a developing story...
