Cuban actress Nancy González has announced her comeback to national television following a lengthy recovery period. She underwent surgery to remove a benign tumor located near the second cervical vertebra.
The television program Suena Cuba celebrated her return with a heartfelt message on social media: “A survivor of a tumor near the second cervical vertebra, Nancy González is back on Cuban TV, looking stunning with a renewed image and stronger than ever. Blessings abound for her!”
González, renowned for her roles in productions like Ruta 10 and Viceversa, underwent surgery two years ago at the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery (INN). The operation was necessary to remove the tumor that was affecting her nerves, causing intense pain and motor issues.
In previous statements, González expressed profound gratitude towards her husband, daughters, family, and friends who supported her throughout her treatment. She also acknowledged the medical team at the INN for their dedicated care, saying, “I witnessed their commitment to their work and their diligence in giving their best.”
Back in 2022, the actress disclosed that she was dealing with health challenges which forced her to temporarily step back from television. Initially, she believed she was experiencing cervical crises, but further examinations revealed the presence of the tumor.
Despite her health issues, González fulfilled her commitments to the telenovela Viceversa, aided by the support from colleagues and her medical team. “Now, I just need to follow my doctors’ recommendations to fully recover and return to work, to life,” she stated at the time, not foreseeing that a year later she would be ready to return to filming.
