A recent discovery of a plastic bag containing human remains on a street in Holguín has prompted a swift police response and stirred concern across social media platforms. Contrary to initial reports, which described the find as a "head," local sources connected to the regime's police clarified it was actually an old skull found on 27th Street in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood.
The same local source blamed the initial confusion on "sensationalist" reports, suggesting the skull might have been used in religious syncretism practices. It was also noted that acquiring human remains for such purposes could be ethically and legally questionable. The authorities are actively investigating the incident to uncover more details.
"It was an old skull in a nylon bag on 27th Street in Pueblo Nuevo that understandably startled passersby. Presumably used in religious syncretism, this practice could potentially breach ethical and legal standards if it involves obtaining human remains," stated the regime-affiliated account.
Before the police clarification, social media pages and users, including La Tijera and Edmundo Dantés Jr., shared images of the police operation, featuring PNR patrols and officers, though no official details about the identity or circumstances of the find were initially provided.
The police urged the public not to spread information from "dubious sources" that might incite panic or insecurity. Yet, official channels often remain silent on such matters until activists and independent journalists bring them to light.
"If you had informed the public properly, you wouldn't need to backtrack now. You always end up looking foolish. Thankfully, social media exposes these issues and holds you accountable," commented an internet user.
In a related incident, human remains were discovered in September in the yard of a residence in the Santo Domingo area, known as El Marabú, in the city of Las Tunas. The alleged perpetrator, dubbed "Mala Suerte," reportedly exhibited erratic behavior and had a history of violence. Reports indicated the remains were unearthed after digging at three locations on his property along Julián Santana Street, between Osvaldo Herrera and Frank País.
Earlier, the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) confirmed an unsettling event in Santiago de Cuba, where a human head was found inside a trash container in the Micro 3 of the Abel Santamaría Urban Center, commonly referred to as "El Sala’o." The Ministry assured that an investigation was underway to swiftly apprehend those responsible for the crime.
