A head-on collision between two motorcycles in Tacajó, located in the Holguín province, resulted in the tragic death of one driver and injuries to two individuals on the other motorcycle this past Sunday. The accident occurred when one motorcycle veered into oncoming traffic, causing the crash, according to local resident accounts. Witnesses described the collision as "severe," as reported by the Facebook page "La Tijera."

The deceased has been identified as Manoli by friends and neighbors, who perished at the scene. The injured individuals are Solange Reyes Ochoa and her husband, whose name has not been released.

The tragic event has deeply affected the Tacajó community, with many residents mourning the loss of Manoli, who was well-loved and regarded as a supportive friend. Amidst discussions about the accident's responsibility, Lisy Espinosa González, a young woman, suggested that Manoli, a diabetic, might have suffered a hypoglycemic episode. "Avoid unnecessary comments without knowing the facts... He was very responsible, and everyone trusted him. It could have been that," she remarked, highlighting Manoli's extensive experience as a driver of a truck that provided daily transportation between Antilla and Holguín.

People close to the injured couple have indicated that while the woman is improving, her husband remains unoperated due to the unavailability of a needed hip prosthesis. In the comments, someone requested contact information for the family to offer a donation.

As of the publication of this report, no official information about the accident has been released.

Last Friday, another traffic incident in Holguín, specifically in the Santa Teresa area, resulted in injuries to 10 people. Traffic accidents involving vulnerable vehicles such as pedicabs, motorcycles, and electric tricycles have become increasingly common in the country as their usage rises. In late September, an electric tricycle fell from the Viaducto bridge in Matanzas, injuring eight individuals, including two minors.

In a recent accident in Centro Habana, two motorcycles collided, resulting in one fatality and several severe injuries. Similarly, in Santiago de Cuba, a motorbike carrying three people, including an infant, failed to stop at a "Stop" sign and collided with another motorcycle. The baby and the mother were immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention.

The primary causes of traffic accidents in Cuba include poor maintenance of road infrastructure, the outdated state of vehicles, and human errors such as disregarding traffic rules or reckless driving. Human factors account for 91% of accidents, according to official reports.
