A Cuban woman living in the United States has taken to TikTok to share her ingenious method of transporting frozen foods to Cuba without them thawing during the lengthy journey to the island. The user, known as @saylin4020, demonstrated in her video how she uses a thermal backpack purchased at Walmart for around $34 to carry items like cheese, ham, ground meat, and picanha.
"The first thing I'm going to recommend if you want to take frozen goods... I packed the cheese on top, then the meat, but no bones allowed. This backpack is from Walmart and costs about $34. I left my house here at six in the morning and arrived at my home in Cuba by eight at night, and the meat was still frozen," she detailed in the video.
She advised against bringing bone-in products and emphasized that the backpack has ample space to store a significant amount of food. "This is the best option; it's what I used and the first thing you need to buy if you want to keep your items frozen," she added.
The video has caught the attention of many Cubans living abroad who often bring food to their families due to the scarcity of essential goods on the island. Numerous viewers expressed gratitude for the tip and inquired about the backpack's size and durability.
Transporting frozen foods on flights to Cuba has become a common practice among travelers, especially those coming from the United States. Many Cubans take advantage of their trips to bring much-needed supplies to a country where basic products are often hard to find.
