Cuban Customer's Disappointing Experience at Hialeah's Palacio de los Jugos

Sunday, October 5, 2025 by Madison Pena

A Cuban woman shared her unfortunate encounter at a Palacio de los Jugos location in Hialeah, where she was not only sold spoiled rice but also overcharged on her bill. "On September 25, I bought fried rice, took it home, and discovered it was rotten. The next day, on September 26, after work, I went back angry to make a complaint," explained the woman, known on TikTok as ritacanariona.

She recounted how the manager acknowledged her complaint, advising her not to post about it on social media to prevent losing customers. He replaced the shrimp fried rice, one of the more expensive dishes, with a simple yellow rice with pork and even gave her a small serving of sweet plantains.

This customer also reported that at this East Hialeah location, situated at 1100 E 4th Ave, she was charged extra on her credit card. "I didn't buy anything else that day; I was focused on returning the spoiled fried rice. A few days later, I noticed an additional $17 charge on my credit card from the day I went to make the complaint," she stated.

"The total I paid for the fried rice, chicken soup, and six cod croquettes was $57.17. The manager showed me the receipt for $57.17 but couldn't explain the $17 charge," she continued. The manager suggested that her card might have been hacked. "Folks, I have my card with me. The issue isn't the $17; it's the trust that when you use your card, you won't be overcharged," she warned.

"Be cautious when using your card at Palacio de los Jugos in Hialeah," she concluded.

In 2023, Florida authorities temporarily closed another Palacio de los Jugos location due to a cockroach infestation. The state's Department of Business and Professional Regulation conducted an inspection last week, discovering these unsanitary conditions in the meat grinder. Consequently, they ordered the restaurant's closure but allowed it to reopen after thorough cleaning and a mandated reinspection. The report noted a total of 18 violations at the restaurant located at 5721-5741 West Flagler Street.
