Yordenis Ugás, the renowned Cuban boxer, has once again captured the attention of social media, not for his prowess in the ring, but for a touching act of generosity that moved many of his followers. The former welterweight world champion shared a video on his Instagram account in which he is seen going out of his way to assist a man waiting at a bus stop. Ugás explained that he altered his route slightly, stating it was "his lucky day" to encounter a fellow Cuban.
In the video, Ugás can be heard saying from inside his car, "I had to take a little detour, but it's my lucky day to meet you," as the surprised passenger, also Cuban, recognized him. The boxer not only picked up the man but also drove him directly to his doorstep, saving him a ten-block walk from the last bus stop.
This act of kindness sparked a wave of positive comments on Instagram. One user wrote, "So nice, I've often wanted to do that... You inspired me, thank you." Another admirer shared a personal encounter with the pugilist, emphasizing his humility: "The humility of this man is incredible. What I was going to buy, I gave to him, and he even hugged me."
Other followers expressed their admiration as well: "You're wonderful, God bless you always"; "I've wanted to do this sometimes, but I'm scared with how things are, but you're amazing"; "Blessings Champion, great as always," were among the reactions the Cuban champion received.
Through this gesture, Ugás not only showed solidarity with his fellow Cubans but also reinforced the image of humility and simplicity that many of his followers admire both inside and outside the ring.
