Javier Berridy Criticizes Miami Airport's Condition, Sends Message to Mayor

Tuesday, September 30, 2025 by Sophia Martinez

The Cuban comedian Javier Berridy has once again publicly criticized the declining state of Miami International Airport (MIA), this time focusing on the non-functional elevators in one of its terminals. "Mayor, look, the airport elevators are not working. You or whoever is responsible…," the content creator demanded in a video shared on his social media platforms, highlighting travelers struggling to haul their luggage up the stairs.

In addition to the elevator issue, Berridy pointed out various gaps and defects within the facility, describing the scene as embarrassing for one of the busiest terminals in the United States. "Look up, on foot, with suitcases. This is unbelievable," he remarked sarcastically.

Previously, the comedian had criticized the state of MIA, notably in April when he exposed the presence of cockroaches in the terminal and directed another pointed message to Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava. That incident triggered a wave of criticism on social media against the local administration and the airport's management.

His latest complaint reignites concerns about the visible decline of MIA, a place that for many Cubans symbolizes the gateway to and from the largest diaspora of the island in the United States. Although the mayor has yet to respond to the comedian's grievances, social media comments reflect the frustration of thousands of travelers who report similar experiences at the airport.

"The airport is increasingly deteriorated, neglected, and dirty," some say, while others mockingly compare MIA to Havana's José Martí Airport. Beyond the humor, Berridy's complaints highlight a growing discontent in the community: the feeling that Miami, the city symbolic of Cuban emigration, offers a welcome increasingly marked by the decline of its main entry point.
