Vice Admiral Pedro Miguel Pérez Betancourt, a long-standing figure in the Cuban regime, has passed away at the age of 85. The Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR) released a statement on Sunday announcing his death. The cause of death was not disclosed.

The statement mentioned that Pérez Betancourt was cremated and that his ashes will be placed in the Pantheon of the Revolutionary Armed Forces on October 1st at 10 AM, where military honors will be given during his funeral.

Pérez Betancourt was notably a member of the 26th of July Movement, playing a significant role in the guerrilla warfare that culminated in the establishment of the Castro regime in 1959.
