In a recent operation conducted by ICE in the metropolitan area of San Diego, California, a Cuban citizen with a history of sexual offenses was taken into custody. This operation also resulted in the arrest of three other foreign nationals from Mexico, Vietnam, and the Bahamas, all previously convicted of sexual assaults against minors.
According to the official statement, the Cuban individual detained was identified as Walter Ramírez. His criminal record includes convictions for rape, sexual assault of a minor under the influence of drugs, and domestic violence. These arrests were part of ICE's efforts to target criminals with severe backgrounds.
Alongside Ramírez, authorities apprehended Eduardo Negrete (Mexico), Hoang Nguyen (Vietnam), and Devin Richardson (Bahamas), each with prior convictions for sex crimes against minors. Some of them had also failed to register as sex offenders as required by state law.
"Make no mistake: these individuals preyed on the most vulnerable members of our community—our children," stated Patrick Divver, the director of the local ERO office in San Diego. He emphasized the severity of the crimes, noting that one offender lived near what appeared to be a daycare and just two blocks from an elementary school. "By detaining them, ICE has removed an immediate threat to public safety," he added.
All four individuals remain in custody as the process for their removal to their home countries progresses, as reported by ICE. This week, ICE also apprehended Miguel Cabrera in San Diego, who has a history of drug trafficking and other serious crimes.
These incidents add to the growing number of Cubans with criminal records detained by ICE in various U.S. states in recent weeks. Many have already been deported or are awaiting expulsion. The possibility of deporting these immigrants to third countries exists if the Havana regime refuses to accept Cubans with criminal backgrounds in the U.S. or those who emigrated before January 2017.
During President Donald Trump's administration, immigrants who committed serious crimes, including Cubans, were deported to third countries amid reports of arbitrary detentions and a lack of access to legal defense.
