A survey conducted by CiberCuba regarding Cuba's future following Raúl Castro's death reveals that nearly two-thirds of participants expect the regime to persist unchanged, with only a small fraction anticipating any political or social shift. This poll, shared on our Facebook page, posed the question: “What will happen in Cuba after Raúl Castro's death?”

Out of the 2,698 votes tallied at the time of writing, 63% chose the option “Nothing changes, the system remains the same,” underscoring a strong belief in the regime's enduring structure beyond its historical leaders. Meanwhile, 25% predicted an “Internal reshuffle,” suggesting that some foresee shifts within the elite circles, yet without significant impact on the general populace.

Only 9% of respondents believed Castro's passing could lead to a “crisis and opening,” while 3% selected an unspecified fourth option. In total, 97% of the votes were concentrated on scenarios of either stagnation or superficial changes, with only a small segment hopeful for genuine reform.

The survey also garnered 79 comments and 164 reactions, indicating an active discourse predominantly characterized by skepticism about immediate systemic changes in Cuba. A recent poll by CiberCuba showed that 83% of participants thought the government should relinquish power due to its failure to resolve the ongoing electricity crisis.

This recent consultation, which included participation from nearly 6,000 individuals, inquired what actions the Cuban authorities should take in response to the ineffective electrical system. An overwhelming 4,960 respondents suggested ceding power as they are deemed incapable of addressing the crisis.

Recently, a rumor about the death of the 94-year-old Castro circulated on a Facebook profile without substantiation or credibility. The regime's secrecy breeds a void filled with speculation and rumors, particularly in a climate where the death of figures like Castro is linked to potential political changes.
