On Monday, September 22, a severe bus accident occurred on the road to Esperanza, just outside Santa Clara in Villa Clara, resulting in injuries to at least 49 people, including nine minors. This tragic incident involved a head-on collision between two passenger buses. According to recent social media updates from the Villa Clara Provincial Health Directorate, four individuals are reported to be in critical condition: two adults are in a life-threatening state, while another adult and a minor (adolescent) are seriously injured. All have been swiftly transported to hospitals for specialized medical care.

The two patients in a critical state are undergoing surgery due to severe injuries, including an open chest fracture and a depressed skull fracture, both considered potentially fatal. The two seriously injured individuals are also in the operating room; one is suffering from a pelvic and hip dislocation fracture and an open tibia fracture, while the other has significant head trauma.

While the remaining injured individuals have sustained multiple contusions and less severe wounds, they are under medical observation as a precautionary measure, as stated by health authorities. The accident took place in an area known as La Rosita, with the exact circumstances still under investigation. Emergency teams, health personnel, and officers from the National Revolutionary Police responded promptly to assist the victims, stabilize the scene, and gather evidence to determine the cause of the collision.

The 40 injured adults are receiving care at the ‘Arnaldo Milián Castro’ Provincial Hospital, while the nine injured minors have been admitted to the ‘José Luis Miranda’ Pediatric Hospital.
