A crop duster aircraft experienced a crash early Saturday morning in the northern keys of Ciego de Ávila. According to a government-aligned source, Liudanis Alarcón Alarcón, the pilot is reportedly unharmed after executing an emergency landing in shallow waters.

Alarcón Alarcón attributed the incident to an engine failure while the plane was operating above the Hotel Colonial. Back in June 2024, a PZL M-18 aircraft, often referred to as a "camel" or agricultural plane, crashed near the town of Peralejo in the La Sierpe municipality of Sancti Spíritus province. The aircraft was conducting a routine pesticide application over rice fields at the time of the accident.

Additionally, in April of the previous year, a Cuban Armed Forces (FAR) helicopter crashed in Santiago de Cuba. Preliminary reports indicated no survivors in the tragic event. The MI-17 helicopter, identified as number H-115, fell from approximately ten meters high. This military aircraft was reportedly supporting a visit by General Raúl Castro, who was in Santiago de Cuba alongside Miguel Díaz-Canel and other Cuban political leaders for a ceremony honoring the interment of Third Eastern Front combatants' remains.
