Officer Sergio R. Beristain, a Cuban-born police officer residing in the United States, recently took to social media to express his thoughts on violence, ideological hatred, and the tragic loss of lives following a series of recent shootings in the country. "America is becoming a loaded weapon filled with bullets of hate," Beristain wrote, referencing several violent events, including the murder of activist Charlie Kirk in Utah and a high school shooting in Colorado that left three teenagers injured.

Beristain emphasized, "Hatred is the bullet that takes our lives... and it's the ideological extremism, from any side, that pulls the trigger." He continued by highlighting, "No matter how many rivers of blood flow in the history of American gun violence, it all comes down to millions of dollars, not the millions of lives lost."

Expressing his disdain for racism and the misuse of power to fuel hatred, Beristain noted, "I would much rather build monuments to those innocent lives who knew no racism, but instead, the innocence of affection without races."

Violence and Ideological Divisions

These reflections come on the heels of events that have deeply shaken the nation. Charlie Kirk, the founder of the conservative organization Turning Point USA, was fatally shot in the neck while attending an event in Utah. Former President Donald Trump blamed the radical left for the crime and announced posthumously awarding Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He also called for the death penalty for the detained suspect, Tyler Robinson.

Beristain's comments have sparked reactions on social media. One user noted, "An exact reflection of reality, it's sad. God bless you." Another commented, "I agree with many of his posts […] the most disgusting thing we're experiencing now is the lack of democracy."

Criticism of Cuban Community and Policies

This is not the first time Beristain has shared thought-provoking messages on social media. In July, he criticized Cuban legal residents who, he said, mock migrants with I-220A or humanitarian parole: "You think because you are legal residents now, you’re privileged, wearing your privileged suit, and you’re not like others, you mock them, call them scum, parasites, 'bread with steak'."

In the same message, he warned, "It seems you forgot you lied at the border, forgot you lied in your interview, omitted information, falsified credible fear... and now you're a legal resident, mocking others."

In another earlier post, he spoke out against the immigration detention center known as Alligator Alcatraz in Florida. "They will put them in cages there, like animals. Let's not talk about food, water service, air conditioning..." he condemned. He also warned that the facility is "infested with alligators and pythons, which are killing machines."

Earlier this year, Beristain had already issued a warning about potential deportations of Cubans regularized during Democratic administrations: "Now those who voted for Trump will see their family members with humanitarian parole and I-220A documents in imminent danger of arrest and deportation."

In another message, he rejected the proposal to suspend flights and remittances to Cuba as a political tool: "Those strategies are outdated, they won't work, and they are simply justifying the votes they got from Republican Cuban-Americans."

In his latest message, Beristain concluded with a phrase that encapsulates the spirit of his posts: "All lives matter."
