Cuban law enforcement recently intercepted a truck loaded with more than 1000 pounds of sea fish in Pilón, Granma. The operation was reported by the pro-government Facebook page, Entérate con Aytana Alama, which stated, "A significant load of illegal fish was seized in Pilón, being transported in a state-owned truck destined for Santiago de Cuba province."

The incident involved three individuals who were stopped by the police while transporting the fish through Marea del Portillo, a locality in Pilón. According to reports, the truck was officially registered to Santiago de Cuba province.

Despite the known efforts by the MININT (Ministry of the Interior) to combat illegal activities, the individuals took a considerable risk, as pointed out by a surprised witness who commented on the large haul seized from the driver. However, the report did not provide further details.

In Cuba, news of confiscations is commonplace. The government, struggling to keep markets stocked, often highlights its efforts to crack down on illegal operations. Back in February, authorities detained a truck in Santa Clara carrying goods without proper documentation. The confiscated items included 404 sacks of rice, along with other products and cash.

During this particular seizure, officials found 404 sacks of rice, 132 sacks of pumpkins, and 187,000 CUP in cash, none of which had the necessary contracts or paperwork to verify their origin. Around the same time, police also intercepted a truck on the National Highway carrying 42,900 cartons of eggs without legal documents, in the municipality of Jagüey Grande, Matanzas.
