A relative of the Cuban man who murdered a motel manager in Texas during a confrontation has alleged that Yordanis Cobos Martínez took the lives of two individuals back on the island. "In Cuba, he killed two people and never faced justice. Others ended up paying for his crimes there. He came here, spent around four or five years in prison for drugs and, you know," stated an unnamed family member in an audio shared by Cuban-American journalist Javier Díaz.

Continuing her account, the woman explained, "After he killed the last one, he fled to the U.S. He removed the liver like he did with the head and tossed it onto the road." She described Cobos Martínez as always having a "bad temper." "Now they're going to execute him, and his mother will never see him again," she lamented.

The woman believes that the entire family suspects Cobos Martínez committed these acts to die in the U.S. She recounted another incident where Cobos Martínez allegedly attacked the father of a birthday girl with approximately 60 machete strikes during a celebration.

The Dark History of Cobos Martínez

Over the weekend, another anonymous source informed Díaz that Cobos Martínez hails from Mayarí, Holguín. He allegedly served time in Cuban prisons at least twice for theft. Alarmingly, he reportedly killed a man with a machete amid a dispute over stolen horses.

According to the journalist, two brothers confronted Cobos Martínez about the theft of their animals, leading to an altercation where he fatally attacked one with a machete. His uncle, a former convict, supposedly took the blame to shield Cobos from imprisonment, resulting in him serving the sentence instead.

Texas Murder and U.S. Criminal Background

Cobos was apprehended last Wednesday for the brutal machete murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah, 50, the manager of Downtown Suites Motel in Old East Dallas. The assault happened in front of the victim's wife and child. Police reports reveal that Cobos inflicted numerous injuries before decapitating his boss in broad daylight. Surveillance footage caught him kicking the head and disposing of it in a trash bin.

The killer was arrested shortly after the crime, found walking with a machete near a store. Despite the weapon, officers managed to take him into custody without resorting to lethal force. This gruesome act has gained nationwide attention due to the perpetrator's notorious background.

"The accused has a criminal record in the United States that includes charges of false imprisonment in California, indecency with a minor in Texas (dismissed), vehicle theft in Florida (dismissed), and carjacking (acquitted but convicted of false imprisonment)," explained Javier Díaz.

Cobos had an active deportation order but was released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in January 2025 after the Cuban government refused to take him back. He is currently detained by Texas authorities and faces murder charges, with the community urging for the harshest penalty.
