Otaola Fires Back, Accuses L Kimii of Homophobia Amid Intensifying Dispute

Thursday, September 11, 2025 by Claire Jimenez

Cuban host Alexander Otaola has responded to the allegations of racism made by reggaeton artist L Kimii, with whom he has been embroiled in a growing controversy for several days. "Where is my racism? I haven't spoken of him as a black man; I don't talk about people's color. Black people in Cuba are the most oppressed ethnic group, as stated by the blacks living in Cuba themselves. Find the racist comment I've made against you and show it, please," Otaola declared during a live broadcast.

The influencer firmly denied making any discriminatory remarks against L Kimii or his family and reminded viewers of moments when he had praised the artist, such as when L Kimii wore a politically charged t-shirt at a concert. "I have no reason to go against him; I don't even know him," Otaola added.

Additionally, Otaola condemned what he described as "homophobic attacks" by the reggaeton singer and demanded clarification on statements he perceived as a threat. "You tell me, are you going to shoot me, L Kimii? I want you to finish the sentence you left incomplete," he challenged.

The host emphasized that he has never made racial distinctions in his criticisms: "I've been upset with white, mulatto, black people, people of all races, and I've never used a racist expression. Calling someone black isn't bad. Of course, there's discrimination in Cuba, but it's because of the dictatorship, not me."

The dispute between the two began after L Kimii lashed out at Otaola, accusing him of racism, which sparked a wave of reactions on social media.
