Pregnant Cuban Woman in Houston Pleads for Help After Losing Everything

Friday, September 5, 2025 by Amelia Soto

A pregnant Cuban woman currently residing in Houston, Texas, has made a heartfelt plea to the community, sharing her harrowing experience of losing all her savings while renting in North Carolina. This situation was brought to light by Cuban influencer @dairon_cano_aguila, who has become a crucial figure in amplifying the voices of vulnerable Cubans in the United States. He shared the woman's emotional testimony in a video that has sparked a wave of solidarity.

"I was living up there in Carolina, and I couldn't continue working because of issues with my work permit," the woman tearfully explained. Her situation was further complicated by pregnancy-related health problems that resulted in hospitalization. She claims to have lost $7,860 while renting from a woman. When she contacted the police, she was told the investigation could take two to three years. "All I could do was wait, but I have no more patience left," she said.

Currently, she is staying with friends in Houston but longs for independence to raise her child. "I want to live alone, take care of my baby by myself... it's not the same when you don't have your own space," she stated.

During the meeting, she couldn't hold back her tears. "I thought you weren't going to come. You were my last hope. I called, I wrote to everyone, and nobody responded," she said to the influencer as they embraced.

Dairon Cano urged the community to support her financially. "This mother has faced tough, challenging times. Anyone who can offer a little help for her baby on the way..." he requested in the recording.

The video has generated numerous comments, many expressing empathy for her situation. "My God, how it hurts, only those of us who are mothers know the pain," one user wrote. "Even with the little I have, I will give something," commented another. "Where should I send the money?" asked a third.

This latest story adds to a series of accounts that @dairon_cano_aguila has shared in recent months, highlighting the harsh realities faced by many Cubans in the United States, especially women, single mothers, and entrepreneurs. In July, he highlighted a Cuban mother in Tampa left alone with three children and a severely ill husband. Days earlier, he shared the story of a young entrepreneur struggling to save her pizzeria in Houston after six months without customers. He also told of a Cuban working with Uber and Lyft in Tampa, unable to make ends meet and desperately seeking employment.

In June, he recounted the story of a Miami entrepreneur who was robbed on the day she opened her beauty salon, seeking support to attract clients and offer jobs to other professionals in the field. One of the most striking testimonies was that of a Cuban family in Tampa who lost everything in a fire while preparing for the arrival of a baby.

In all these cases, the goal has been the same: to rally the Cuban community to help, even if just with a small contribution. As the creator himself sums it up: "We are here to help each other."
