The family of Miguel Mondragón, the 49-year-old man who was tragically killed during a robbery attempt in Austin, Texas, reports receiving numerous messages from individuals claiming to have been victimized by the same assailants. These perpetrators are allegedly part of the FBM gang, composed of Cuban nationals.

"These are just a few of the many people who have reached out to us, also victims of the same criminals who murdered my father," said Jaimes Jasmin, the victim's daughter, in a Facebook post. "Please help us raise our voices and demand justice by sharing posts about this case. We cannot remain silent, and we need everyone's help to achieve this," she urged in an earlier post.

Following her public appeal, multiple testimonies have emerged, linking the arrested individuals to a broader criminal network that exploits immigrants in Texas, leveraging their fear of reporting crimes amid the immigration policies under Donald Trump. "The people who killed your dad are in a gang called FBM, they are Cuban. All those arrested are part of that gang," read one of the messages received.

Others reported being beaten, run over, or robbed by the same group. "One girl mentioned that her sister and she were attacked for their belongings; another victim said she was hit by a vehicle," Jasmin recounted. A man claimed he was assaulted by the Cubans, who stole his phone and searched his car. Furthermore, some indicated that the gang acts out of "adrenaline" rather than necessity, as all the young men involved are employed.

Key Figures and Arrests

The alleged leader of the criminal group is Alejandro Hurtado-Reyes, reportedly accompanied by his wife, who is also linked to the criminal activities. Hurtado-Reyes, 22, was one of the five Cubans arrested for Mondragón's murder, which occurred on August 3 in northeast Austin. Alongside him, Yanaris Reyes (29), Antonio González (17), Yurisander Góngora Rojas (19), and Héctor Yohany Achang Batlle (19) were detained, facing capital murder charges.

According to local police, the suspects blocked Mondragón's truck, descended masked and armed, and opened fire. The victim attempted to flee on foot but was caught and executed. The assailants then stole his belongings. The accused were apprehended between August 12 and 19 by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, led by the U.S. Marshals.

Concerns Over Justice and Safety

The family expresses concern that low bail amounts and the dismissal of charges could allow those responsible to go free. One of them, Alejandro Hurtado-Reyes, has already been released on bail. "We urge caution, as this individual has been described as dangerous," Jasmin warned. "This is not just about justice for my father, but for every person who has yet to be heard."

Amidst their grief, family and friends have organized efforts to support Mondragón's children, including a charity raffle launched by his niece, Lorena Jaimes.
