In a startling incident at Miami International Airport (MIA), a British woman, Alvina Omisiri Agba, 23, was apprehended after snatching a four-year-old boy from his mother’s arms and refusing to return him. The early Tuesday morning episode was swiftly halted thanks to the quick actions of an airport employee and several bystanders.

Critical Moment in the Airport

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO), as reported by local media, stated that the incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. at Security Checkpoint 5. Nadine Joseph, the child’s mother, was in line when her son began crying and appeared distressed. Agba offered to help soothe the child, and Joseph briefly allowed her to hold him. However, Agba then stepped out of line and moved away from the mother. Realizing something was amiss, Joseph quickly pursued Agba, demanding her child back. Agba's response was baffling: "No, this is my son," she reportedly told local outlets like the Miami Herald.

Chaos and Confrontation

The situation escalated into a highly tense moment. According to a police report cited by Local 10, Agba "wrapped her arms and legs around the boy, preventing him from moving" and even "pushed the mother" when she attempted to retrieve her son. Witnesses recalled scenes of shouting and confusion. Dayanis Ojeda, a GlobalX Air supervisor, told Local 10 that another passenger took the child but did not confirm any harm to the boy, despite the chaotic attempts to secure him.

The Intervention of Naylet Montano

The crisis might have ended tragically if not for Naylet Montano, an airport employee who witnessed the ordeal and took decisive action. "There was a lady on the floor holding the child tightly. I saw the child was in danger and grabbed him, then ran," Montano recounted to Univision. She took the boy behind the GlobalX Air counter for safety, but Agba persisted. Montano continued, "The woman came after me to take the child away, so I ran behind the counter and crouched to protect him."

Montano wasn't alone in her efforts. Three men intervened to form a barrier between her and the assailant. Agba attempted to crawl under the counter, demanding her "son" back, but the men stood firm between her and Montano.

Agba was arrested on charges of assault and "interference with custody," a serious offense in Florida for depriving a parent or legal guardian of access to their child. By Tuesday afternoon, she remained in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a bond set at $3,500. It remains unclear if Alvina Omisiri Agba has legal representation, and no details have emerged regarding mental health evaluations or the motivations behind her peculiar actions, aside from her mention of divine intervention.
