Imaray Ulloa and Fabián Fontaine Criticize Miami Airport After Frustrating Experience

Monday, August 25, 2025 by Albert Rivera

Cuban influencer Imaray Ulloa and her partner, plastic surgeon Fabián Fontaine, recently took to Instagram to share a troubling experience they had at Miami International Airport (MIA). What began as a personal account quickly escalated into a public denunciation of one of the busiest airports in the United States. Imaray expressed that traveling should be enjoyable, but in Miami, it can become the exact opposite. She highlighted a plethora of issues, from leaky ceilings and broken escalators to a stalled Skytrain, noting, "You can encounter any disaster."

Travel Woes and Technical Delays

Fabián recounted a challenging incident from two months prior when they attempted to fly to the Dominican Republic. They were forced to board three different planes: the first was canceled due to technical issues, the second because of a detected tire problem on the runway, and only the third plane managed to take off. Both Imaray and Fabián pointed out another major inconvenience: prolonged waiting times on the ground. Imaray mentioned that every time they land in Miami, they face a 20 to 30-minute wait for a gate, a delay that can cause chaos for those with connecting flights.

Luggage Nightmares and Lost Bags

The couple also voiced their frustration over lost luggage. Fontaine noted that statistically, 5.5 bags are lost per thousand passengers at Miami, which translates to thousands of affected travelers annually given the airport's over 50 million passengers each year. "We're one of those statistics," Imaray interjected. Just 12 days ago, they experienced a lost bag incident themselves. They were traveling from San Francisco, and during a connection in Miami, one of their bags vanished. Although the system showed it was unloaded and scanned, it never appeared on the carousel. Despite assistance from supervisors, friends at American Airlines, and even a police report, the bag remained missing.

Urgent Call for Improvement

Clearly frustrated, Imaray concluded the video with a powerful message: "Miami needs an airport that matches the city's stature. Help us by sharing this video." Both emphasized that this is not just their personal ordeal but an issue affecting thousands of passengers annually that can no longer be overlooked.

The testimony of Imaray and Fabián highlights the delays, technical failures, and luggage losses they've personally endured at MIA. Their account sparked a heated discussion on social media, where many users shared similar stories while others criticized the tone of their complaint. Nevertheless, their experience underscores an uncomfortable truth: despite its international significance, Miami Airport suffers from significant shortcomings impacting daily travelers.
